Gain an industry recognised qualification, improve your job prospects and learn new skills. The Trade Innovation Institute's state-of-the-art Plastics and Polymers Centre at CPIT offers 13 week courses - and you can earn while you learn.

Why should I do my trade training at CPIT?

  • Purpose built facilities - our specialised workshops have been custom built for delivering automotive programmes
  • Hands on learning - all students have the opportunity to be involved with practical projects and industry work experience
  • You'll get the skills that are in demand - TII works closely with the trades industry to ensure all training is current and relevant

CPIT Plastics programmes:

The best start for a career in the plastics and polymer industry is with one of the pre trade programmes. On completion of a pre trade programme, you can move into employment as an apprentice and work towards a higher trade certificate to become a fully qualified tradesperson.

  • National Certificate in Plastics Processing Technology
The National Certificate in Plastics Processing Technology Level 1 (with strands in Injection Moulding, Extrusion, Blow Moulding, Thermoforming, Blown Film Extrusion, Film Conversion, Injection Stretch Blow Moulding, and Rotational Moulding) is an introductory qualification to the plastics industry, and provides you with limited skills and knowledge in one specialised production technique (strand).

Where will I study?

Plastics programmes are delivered in the new purpose built Plastics and Polymers Centre at the CPIT Sullivan Avenue Campus in Opawa, Christchurch.
