Te Haeata - Certificate in Maori Foundation Studies - Bridging Foundation Programme

Te Haeata is a six month full time programme that offers a unique blend of study skills and introduction to other practical, hands on training options.

Based at Te Puna WÄnaka at CPIT, this foundation programme is designed for those who want to take their first step into further areas of study, regardless of their educational background.

Te Haeata can help you gain the skills you need for further study, as well as providing you with an opportunity to gain skills and experience in specific subject areas, for example, Maori Studies, Trades, Health or Computing.

This programme is ideal for those interested in progressing on to further study.

Certificate in Foundation Studies (Raranga)

In the Certificate in Foundation Studies (Raranga) you will learn about weaving including techniques and tools and researching natural resources.  You will also study Te Reo Maori Whakapapa, Waiata, Karakia, Kapahaka, Tikanga and Literacy.  These courses provide you with the basic skills you need to be successful in any kind of tertiary study in subjects relating to Kaupapa Maori.

Certificate in Foundation Studies (Sports Training & Indigenous Culture)

This programme offers an opportunity for Maori, Pacific Island and other students who are interested in sport to gain further physical, health and mental conditioning; and understanding of Maori and Pacific Island languages/cultures and preparation for entry to other tertiary qualifications in sport, health, recreation, Te reo, and Tikanga Maori. 

Te Ata Hou – Certificate in Maori Studies - Bridging Foundation Programme

Te Ata Hou is an exciting and challenging programme that will assist you in developing to your full potential and enhance your tertiary study and employment opportunities.

In this one year full time programme you will learn Maori language, history, art and performing arts while also learning how to organise your time, study for exams and write essays. You will receive a sound grounding in Te Ao Maori while at the same time learn academic skills that will help you succeed in further study.

Students who successfully complete this programme will be eligible to apply for higher level tertiary qualifications.
