Fitting, Turning & Toolmaking

Fitters, Turners & Toolmakers use lathes, mills, grinders and other machine tools to make, fit and repair parts for machines and equipment.

The best start for a career in Fitting, Turning and Toolmaking is the pre-trade programme. On completion of the pre-trade programme, you can move into employment as an apprentice and work towards a higher trade certificate to become a fully qualified tradesperson.

What are my career options upon completing the Certificate in Engineering (Fitting, Turning & Toolmaking) at CPIT?

After completing the pre trade Certificate in Engineering, you'll be in a good position to apply for paid employment as an apprentice in any of the engineering trades.

As an engineering tradesperson you can gain employment in a wide range of industries including agriculture, manufacturing, plastics etc. You will generally work in factories, machine shops, tool rooms or in specific workshops depending on the type of work you are involved with.
