Each year, the CPIT School of Fashion presents Debut and PITCH.
Debut is the first public showcasting for School of Fashion final year students,
The Debut show is the very first collection produced by students in the final year of our fashion programme; it literally marks their debut as designer/makers. This collection represents their new found skills, which they have obtained whilst completing two week work experience with a fashion design company at the beginning of the year.
For this collection students are required to design, produce patterns, cut, sew and finish all outfits as well as prepare all elements of the presentation from sourcing models to briefing hair and makeup personnel. This is the best opportunity for you to see our new designers' first steps.
The PITCH show is a celebration of the work by all students in our fashion programme from first year to final year. The calibre of the work is outstanding and demonstrates the strong focus our school places on applied skills. While year 1 and 2 students produce outfits to specific design briefs, PITCH also includes the second collection developed by students in our final year. This has been designed to the students own brief. Students use this collection to profile their own particular strengths and interests and is in that sense more of a personal statement than the first.
An important but less well known component of PITCH is the annual Model Auditions the Fashion School holds in October. This is a great opportunity to try your hand at modelling. You never know what may come of it? One of our recent model stars, Magdalena Schoeman was this year crowned Miss World New Zealand!
