English for International Students
CPIT's programmes of study in English for international students are:
- General English - a course for Elementary and Early Intermediate English Language students that includes communicative activities to improve fluency and accuracy in grammar through speaking, listening, reading, writing, and vocabulary development.
- English Plus - A nine week course for Early Intermediate and Advanced English students that combines a morning Intensive English course and an afternoon elective course.
- Applied Language Studies - A nine week course is the follow-up course to the Introduction to Tertiary Study course. Successful completion of this course prepares a student for Foundation or Mainstream study (subject to meeting entry requirements).
- Cambridge Exam Preparation - A 12 week course that is designed to prepare students for the University of Cambridge English Language examinations. These exams are internationally recognised and offered at different levels. Many students take these exams prior to entering the workforce as recognition of their English language level.
- Intensive IELTS Preparation - This four week intensive course covers the components of reading, writing, listening, and speaking and prepares students for the IELTS examination with exam strategies.
- Certificate in English as an Additional Language - The Certificate in English as an Additional Language involves intensive language instruction which will enable you to develop English language competence for living, studying and/or working in an English speaking environment.
