The School of Humanities offers a range of full time and part time English language programmes from Beginner through to Upper Intermediate level. This particular cluster covers Beginner to Intermediate programmes. You will develop English language skills useful for living and working in New Zealand and preparing for further study. The focus of the programmes is in developing fluency and accuracy in the four skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing.
The programmes are open to permanent residents from non English speaking backgrounds who wish to improve their communication in English. You will be placed in a level according to the results of a placement test in grammar, reading, writing and listening. You will also be interviewed to assist you with understanding the enrolment procedures and to ensure you are placed in an appropriate class.
Successful completion of the programme will result in improved ability to communicate effectively in the English language.
You will be placed into the appropriate programme for your level of English according to the results of a CPIT placement test.
