If you have started studying business at another tertiary institution and are considering transferring your course credits to
study a business programme here at CPIT, here are some answers to questions you may have:
Note: A course is the equivalent term to a paper at University, a programme is an equivalent term to a qualification i.e.
Diploma in Business.
If I am studying a business qualification at another institution, am I able to transfer to CPIT?
Yes you are able to transfer, either to a qualification that is the same, e.g. New Zealand Diploma in Business or to a similar qualification so long as you meet the entry requirements.
What if the business programme I am currently studying doesn't match any CPIT programmes?
CPIT has a process to recognise credits for courses studied at other institutions for other qualifications
Can I transfer into any of the School of Business programmes CPIT offer?
Yes, as long as you meet the entry requirements.
Are National Qualifications recognised by CPIT?
Yes, we recognise all qualifications approved by NZQA and where appropriate can give credit.
Will I need to repeat courses that I have already studied?
CPIT has a process to recognise credits for courses studied at other institutions, so you will not have to repeat courses nor complete very similar courses.
What If I am half way through completing a course?
CPIT can only recognise credits for completed courses
Is there a transfer fee?
There is no transfer fee, but some fees are charged to recognise the transfer of credits.
When is the best time to transfer?
Programmes begin in February and July each year, so it is best to transfer at least a week before the start dates.
How long does it take to organise a transfer?
You will need to make an application to join our programmes, but if you attend in person it can be approved within an hour.
What do I need to do in order to transfer?
You will need to make an application to join our programme, and include your academic transcript.
