Content & Learning

This qualification is delivered in well-equipped bakeries and consists of compulsory and elective courses. The compulsory section covers: Health & Safety, Food Safety, Legislative and Food Code Requirements, Bakery Science, and Personal Presentation. Elective courses include biscuits, pastry, cake, bakery decoration and bread baking.  The National Certificate in Baking Level 2 is incorporated into the delivery of the Level 3 National Certificate.

Career & Further Opportunities

Graduates with a National Certificate in Baking are sought after by employers throughout New Zealand. You will be qualified to seek employment in supermarket in-store bakeries, craft bakeries, cafe bakeries, artisan bakeries, bakery franchises and speciality outlets such as dessert suppliers. You can go on to gain a (modern) apprenticeship to study towards a National Certificate in Baking Level 4.
