Content & Learning

This programme will develop the skills and knowledge needed to begin a career in the Automotive Engineering, Panel Beating, Spray Painting, Coach Building and Automotive Restoration industries.  The compulsory section of the qualification covers protection of vehicle electronics, automotive preventative maintenance, automotive machining, automotive administration, automotive electrical, stock security, workshop engineering and welding, and work and study skills.

The elective strands cover a range of motor industry subjects particular to automotive electrical and mechanical occupations and collision repair occupations.

Students will also have to complete a minimum of 160 hours of work experience in the industry.

Career & Further Opportunities

This qualification prepares people for entry into further National Certificates in the motor industry. It shares some standards in common with other qualifications to provide multiple entry points for people to the industry.
