If you are entering full time tertiary education at CPIT in 2012 you could be eligible for one of CPIT’s Ara Ake Rise Up scholarship full fees refund.

CPIT is offering 100 new scholarships for 2012, aimed at attracting and supporting students entering into tertiary education. The scholarships recognise academic achievement, excellence, leadership potential, sporting and cultural involvement as well as supporting students entering tertiary study under hardship.

The scholarships provide a full tuition refund for students in their first year of enrolment in a programme of at least 240 credits and are available in all qualifying programmes including a range of diploma and degree programme (at least 240 credits).

Who is eligible?

The scholarships are available to New Zealand citizens, permanent residents, or those with domestic status at CPIT who fit the criteria below.

Category A:

  • Academic achievement at NCEA level 2 or 3 or equivalent university entrance qualifications.
  • Evidence of the applicant's leadership potential.
  • Involvement in sport, cultural and/or community activities.
  • Demonstration of applicants' ability to succeed in their chosen course of study.

Category B:

  • The applicants' demonstrated participation in their Māori or Pasifika culture, including statements of support from the iwi/Pasifika group.

Category C:

  • The applicants' demonstrated participation in Refugee or Migrant communities, including statements of support from a relevant community group.

Category D:

  • The applicant can demonstrate that they are likely to experience serious financial or personal hardship which might deter them from entering tertiary study.

Applications can be made either prior to or as part of the selection process for a programme.

Scholarship conditions

Each scholarship will be for one year and must be taken up in the first year of enrolment.

Scholarships will be awarded to applicants by the CPIT Council on the recommendation of the relevant Selection Committee.

Normal enrolment processes may also identify potential recipients.

Each scholarship will be credited directly to the student's fees account at the time of enrolment.

A condition of acceptance is that scholars may be invited to engage in CPIT community activities, for example to participate as student mentors, to act as student ambassadors, and to be involved with CPIT publicity as appropriate.

In the event of withdrawal from the specified course of study for which the scholarship is awarded, the scholarship will be withdrawn, and any monies awarded may be recovered.
