Transfer of learning

If you have started studying at another educational institution and wish to complete your studies at CPIT or complete a different qualification, you may be able to transfer the credits you have already earned, towards a qualification at CPIT. Even if there is not a direct match between the courses you have already studied and those currently offered at CPIT, we have a process to assess and recognise your relevant prior learning (RPL).

CPIT recognise and can give credit for all appropriate qualifications approved by the NZQA so you will not have to complete the same or very similar courses at CPIT. However, we cannot give credit for courses that are only part completed.

Fees

There are no fees for the actual transfer, but there are fees for the time spent assessing your prior learning. Visit the Centre for Assessment of Prior Learning for more information.

Application

You will need to make application to join your selected programme in the usual way and include your academic transcript with your application, so that your prior learning can be assessed. Our mainstream programmes start in February and July of each year so it is best to apply a few weeks in advance of the programme’s start.
