Cycling is a low cost, convenient, practical and environmentally friendly means of transport, particularly for travel to CPIT where there are a limited number of car parks. Christchurch is a great place to bike in being flat, so people with all levels of health and experience can enjoy cycling.

At our Madras Street Campus we provide the following cycle stands:

  • covered cycle stands in the basement of NS block (entrance from Madras Street)
  • covered stands by the main (western) entrance to E Block
  • open-air stands around the campus.

Remember to always lock your cycle when using one of the stands.

If you do choose to cycle into CPIT, there are lockers and showers available to use in the Recreation Block. More information can be found in the map of CPIT cycle stand and shower locations (PDF: 0.6MB).

With road closures around the city there is more traffic on some of our roads and thoroughfares. It pays to wear high visibility gear, obey the road rules and always wear a cycle helmet.

The Christchurch City Council has a wealth of information on their website on cycling including a guide on the cycle routes and the location of the cycle lanes around Christchurch. The Council also has covered stands around the city and you can find the location of these on their website.
