At both our Trades Innovation Institute on Sullivan Avenue and Madras Street campuses, there are several areas on the campus grounds designated for car parking which are available to staff and students. These car parks are pay and display and have a daily rate. To be able to use these parks, you need to have the correct parking slip or authority displayed either on your dashboard or windscreen.
Disability car parking is available to mobility card holders. To find out where these parks are, contact us.
There are a number of reserved parking spaces around the campus and these are for staff holders only.
Visitors
If you are visiting our Madras Street Campus there is public parking in the main entrance parking areas outside the Rakaia Centre on Madras Street. This is pay and display Monday to Saturday from 7am to 9pm with a rate of $1 per hour. Otherwise there are various public car parking spaces and areas around the campus. The Christchurch City Council and Wilsons websites have more information.
For your convenience, there is a change machine next to the Westpac ATM in the Rakaia Centre (x block). It will make change in $2 coinage for $10 and $20.
Getting a staff parking slip
If you did not get a parking sticker when you first started working at CPIT, you can get one from the Human Resources office.
Getting a student parking authority
You can get your student parking authority sticker when you pay your enrolment fees at the Enrolments Counter. Otherwise take your Student ID card to Security and they can issue one.
Parking policy
Parking is provided for you at CPIT and we need to enforce a parking policy so that it is fair for everyone. Vehicles may be towed away if you:
- Don’t display or incorrectly display your pay and display ticket, parking slip or parking authority.
- Don’t pay or have expired parking fees.
- Park in areas not designated for parking such as on grass, gardens and driveways.
- Park in reserved parks, private parking areas, disability parks and childcare P10 parks.
- Park on broken yellow lines or hashed lines.
- Block other vehicles in.
- Speed in car parks (maximum speed limit is 10 kph).
Towed vehicles
If you think your car has been towed away, then contact Security who will be able to advise you if it has and where it has been towed to. You will need to pay a release fee if your car has been towed.
Hours
Pay and display car parking hours are Monday to Saturday 7am to 9pm
