Computing suites
We have computing suites available at our Madras Street Campus, all located within the Rakaia Centre.
- L130 (the Library POD) is open 24 hours.
- L246, L247 and L248 are open normal business hours.
To access L130 computers out of normal campus hours, you will need to have a personalised identification number (PIN) added to your Student ID card. This will allow you swipe card access on the doors locks.
To get you PIN validated you need to see the Security Office, located in the Rakaia Centre.
We have specific after-hours regulations you have to abide by. Security will provide you with these when they validate your card and they are also in the Student Information Handbook and Enrolment Guide. Access may be denied if these regulations are not followed.
Free email
All students enrolled at CPIT will be given an email account through Microsoft Live@edu. You can check your email at any of the computers around the campus and use this account whilst you are studying here. You can even access your email outside the Campus at home.
You can access you emails from home using your CPIT user name and password.
Though the CPIT website, log on to Portal, enter username and password > Student Email.
Accessing your email is easy:
- Your Windows Live ID is your email address (i.e. the username given to you when you enrol at CPIT and "@student.cpit.ac.nz") e.g. abc123@student.cpit.ac.nz
- Your password is the same as the one given to you when you enrol and the one you used to log onto a computer at CPIT.
