Bachelor of Design
Level: 7 - This three year programme aims to give you a practical, relevant and challenging design education. During your studies you will have the opportunity to develop your creative, intellectual and practical talents and to acquire both the head and hand skills required for a professional design career.You will enrol in a common set of core papers in the first semester, before moving into your selected specialisation. You are primarily taught in small studio classes with opportunities for one-to-one interaction with your tutors.
Certificate in Design
Level: 4 - This programme is designed to prepare you for further tertiary study in art or design. You will develop an understanding of the creative design process through practical art and design skills, while at the same time improving study skills for successful degree level academic study. This programme includes a wide range of practical skills in 2D and 3D drawing, digital design, painting, photography, graphics, workshop skills, woodworking, casting techniques, use of recycled materials and folio presentation. You are also introduced to techniques for successful academic study with the opportunity to develop these skills within the Foundation History course. This introductory level programme provides a sound preparation for the Bachelor of Design. However, successful completion of the Certificate in Design does not give automatic entry to the degree, you must apply and submit your portfolio.
Certificate in Fashion Technology and Design
Level: 4 - This one year programme aims to give you a practical, relevant and challenging fashion technology and design education. During your studies you will have the opportunity to develop your creative, intellectual and practical talents and to acquire both the head and hand skills required for an entry level position within the fashion industry.
Certificate in Hairdressing Level 2
Level: 2 - You will study creative hair design including; setting, blow waving and long hair design, ladies hair cutting, colour and perm design, reception and retailing.
Certificate in Hairdressing Level 4
Level: 4 - As a year 2 student at the CPIT School of Professional Hairdressing you will build on your knowledge and learning in all areas that you studied in Year one.
Certificate in Specialised Hairdressing Skills
Level: 3 - This Certificate recognises the skills and knowledge required for management and/or training roles in the Hairdressing Industry.
Diploma in Fashion Technology and Design
Level: 7 - This two year programme aims to give you a practical, relevant and challenging design education. Strong emphasis is placed on individuality and innovation within design briefs, whilst building on practical indsutry relevant skills. You are primarily taught in industry standard workrooms with opportunities for one-to-one interaction with your tutors. Work placements are seen as an integral part of your learning.
Diploma in Photographic Imaging
Level: 5 - This programme is offered as a series of workshops, each based on a photographic genre or set of technical skills. In each workshop you will work on assignments tailored to your individual interests (where possible). Workshops and areas of study will include photographic design, digital imaging, colour management, colour technology, technical practice, available light (portrait and wedding photography), studio photography, photo journalism, image concepts, creative postproduction, contextual studies, physics, philosophy, new media studies, and professional practice.
Diploma in Professional Photography
Level: 6 - This programme is designed to help you develop specialist photographic skills and knowledge in an applied learning environment. Industry based skills are taught in the context of student elected photographic genres (eg studio/location portraiture, studio still life, photojournalism/documentary, fashion etc). All courses are compulsory and include digital postproduction/prepress, digital imaging, creative lighting, technical practice, interactive design, professional and business practice and a major project. Industry contact through membership in a professional association is also included. The programme puts equal emphasis on the development of technical skill, creativity and the understanding of design processes.
