Jane Diamond
A lifelong love of fashion and a desire to gain a
qualification in the fashion industry led Jane Diamond to enrol in
CPIT's Diploma of Fashion Design and Textile Technology.
"After taking a little time out to be a Mum, I began working part time for a local clothing company and then decided I wanted to get a formal qualification in fashion design. I found out that CPIT offered a course based on technical skills as well as design which was exactly what I was after.
I really enjoyed the creative elements of the programme and seeing my designs realised. I was also impressed at the focus on learning the technical elements of pattern making and construction as that gives you some excellent foundation skills in fashion design.
The tutors at CPIT were also fantastic - they were very knowledgeable and encouraged an informal learning environment for much of the classroom work which I felt made learning more enjoyable.
I now work as a Design Assistant at Long Island, a women's apparel company, on a part time basis and I'm also a tutor at the School of Fashion at CPIT. I feel that completing the Diploma of Fashion Design and Textile Technology provided me with a sound understanding of the design and construction process and I use that knowledge in both of my roles today."
