Graduation Eligibility

Students are entitled to attend a Graduation ceremony when they complete an approved programme at or above level 4 whether the qualification is a certificate, diploma or degree. Some qualifications below level 4 may also be awarded at a Graduation ceremony.

Students GraduatingYou can receive your award in one of several ways:

  • by attending a Graduation ceremony in person
  • by post
  • by collecting it in person from the Institute after the date of the Graduation ceremony

If you are eligible to attend a Graduation ceremony, you should receive a letter from the Institute advising you. If you believe you are entitled to graduate an don't hear from the Institute, contact your Faculty. Remember to keep your postal address up to date.

There is a strict "dress code" requiring graduands to wear the appropriate regalia when they attend a

Graduation ceremony; there is a charge for hiring regalia.

In order to receive your qualification document you should complete the application form for "Awarding of a Qualification", indicating whether you wish to have your qualification awarded at the ceremony or in absentia (not at the ceremony).

If you request to graduate in absentia, your qualification document will be mailed to you or held for you to collect after the graduation ceremony date at CPIT Registry Central Academic Records. Their office is situated in the Rakaia Centre. The main entrance is on Madras Street. You will need to bring proof of your identity at that time, eg your student IDCard or driver's licence.

If you choose to attend Graduation in person, see the future Graduation ceremony dates listed.
