Student ambassador, Catherine Brebner
Bachelor of Broadcasting Communications
Catherine was attracted to the Bachelor of Broadcasting Communications course by the balance of theory and practical work being offered.
“You’re getting hands on training with the equipment and practising roles you’ll be doing in your job”, she says. “It’s great because of the small class sizes. You get lots of one on one time so you can ask questions about things you don’t understand.”
As well as time on campus, the course includes interesting industry related activities, “I’ve just been on an amazing field trip to Wellington!” says Catherine. “Visited Avalon Studios, Weta the Film Commission, Film Archive and Park Road Post Productions.”
If she had to give one reason why someone should choose CPIT, Catherine says it’s “The chance to work with people with industry experience; amazing contacts and students who have the same passion as you. … I think some students can misjudge polytechs against universities and I want them to know CPIT is better.”
Catherine is looking forward to getting a good internship in the industry then working in film and television and enjoying her job.
