About baking

Wander through the bakery section in a supermarket or take a look in the cabinets of a suburban bakery and you will see the results of a professional baker's daily work. By the time most people rise in the morning many bakers will be well into their working day producing the fresh bread, cakes, biscuits and pastries to tempt us during the day.

Baking is very much a 'hands-on' career choice which offers lots of opportunity to be creative and productive. While accuracy with interpretation of recipes and weighing and measuring ingredients is important for consistency, the most successful bakers use their own creative flair and skill to make their products stand out from the rest.
