About construction management
Construction is one of the country's largest industries and can provide excellent and diverse employment for those looking for a challenging and rewarding occupation.
As a construction manager your responsibilities could cover everything from the supervision of building sites and planning building operations; to managing staff, industrial relations and responsibility for safety, costings and inspection. You could find yourself working for construction and building companies, subcontractors and specialist contractors, local government, project management businesses or education providers.
Extensive activity in New Zealand's building industry requires construction managers equipped with sound knowledge in building methods, planning and organising, and managing people.
Studying construction management
CPIT offers the National Diploma in Construction Management which will give you a mix of technical expertise, management skills and industry experience to prepare you for work in the real world.
Our programme takes a two pronged approach, firstly giving you a sound knowledge of the broader construction industry in the core subjects of construction systems, materials, environment, services, building law, contract administration and communications.
