Raranga Taonga –Level 1 Weaving

*NB: The class will not run on Waitangi Day
An introductory course in mahi raranga (weaving). Acquire basic weaving skills in a friendly, “hands-on” environment at Te Puna Wanaka (Faculty of Maori Studies). Gain knowledge and understanding of the preservation and maintenance of harakeke (flax) and the protocol and rules associated with harakeke in te ao Maori. This course will provide the essential foundation for further, more intensive weaving courses.


Te Hoe 1 - Beginners Maori Language Part 1

Code:    MAOR111   Duration: 1 week
Starts: Mon 18th Jan   Time: 10am – 12 noon/Mon-Fri
Room: TM211   Fee:  $4.40
Location: City Campus, Madras St

A ten hour introductory Maori language course for students with no knowledge of Te Reo Maori and Tikanga Maori, where you will acquire very basic skills in pronunciation and introductory phrases.


Te Hoe 2 - Beginners Maori Language Part 2

Starts: Mon 25th Jan   Time: 10am – 12 noon/Mon-Fri

Te Hoe 2 is a progression from Te Hoe 1, expanding on introductory phrases and includes an extension of basic mihi.
