About CPIT
CPIT is one of New Zealand's largest tertiary institutions educating about 30,000 students per annum and is located in Christchurch.
CPIT has two campuses;
Te Wānaka o Ōtautahi – A place to belong
Nau Mai ki Te Wānaka o Ōtautahi! Te Wānaka o Ōtautahi provides a place of belonging for those wanting to engage the Māori world. Te Wanaka is run in a distinctively Māori way and based on tikanga Māori concepts including:
- manaakitanga (meeting the needs of the people )
- mana tangata (integrity and professionalism)
- rereketanga (nurturing diversity and promoting innovation).
Te Whale Pasefika is an important part of Te Wānaka.
Our Staff
CPIT employs approximately 2000 staff. CPIT selects its teaching staff on their education, achievement and enthusiasm.
Our Qualifications
We have over 100 years' experience providing tertiary education to graduate level. At CPIT, we offer many qualifications that are registered on the National Qualification Framework.
We provide up to the minute training in state of the art facilities.
Our programmes are designed to ensure that our students move seamlessly from study to the workplace through:

- Practical hands-on training
Applied Learning
At CPIT we emphasise 'applied' learning, where theoretical education is combined with a hands-on approach. The success of our 'applied learning' approach is borne out by the number employers who prefer CPIT-trained employees.
Staircasing
Our programmes are designed to lead you from your education to employment in the industry of your career choice. We provide staircasing from foundation programmes to degree and graduate qualifications.
Flexible Study Options
Many of our programmes can be studied part-time, during the day, evening and at the weekend, to work in with your work or life commitments. View more about flexible study options.
Student Services and Facilities
As well as a gym, bookshop, cafeteria, health centre and car-parking, CPIT has all the services and facilities you would expect at a major tertiary institution.
CPIT Foundation
The CPIT Foundation works in partnership with CPIT to help fund innovative projects that can "make a difference" to individual students and staff, to CPIT as a whole, and through them ultimately to the community
